Move over Loch Ness—Japan has its own plesiosaur celebrity: Futabasaurus suzukii.

Discovered in the Futaba Group of Fukushima in 1968, this Late Cretaceous marine reptile stretched about 7 meters long, with a swan-like neck, streamlined body, and flippers built for slicing through the seas. It was the first elasmosaurid ever found in Japan, making it a paleontological icon and local treasure. With a mouth full of sharp, conical teeth, Futabasaurus preyed on fish and squid while looking eerily like the cryptid illustrations that haunt lake lore.

This hard enamel pin captures its long neck and elegant body in polished metal and enamel—no Japanese fossil hunt or cryptid fan club membership required.

Specs:

  • Premium metal base with polished hard enamel fill
  • Secure clasp so your Futabasaurus doesn’t “slip back into the depths”
  • Size: 43.7 x 33.5mm
  • Zero chance of photobombing your beach trip

Perfect for marine reptile lovers, fossil fans, and anyone who enjoys the overlap between science and sea monster mythology.
